During DT week, 6K worked in groups to design a new soup recipe that would be suitable for a vegetarian diet. The children worked well together to prepare and cook vegetables, before making design choices about whether the soup should be smooth or lumpier. Some delicious new products. Well done 6K! There are more photos in the photo album.

We have had some wonderful half term homework projects returned to us in 6K. Ranging from letters and diaries of civilians, to model shelters and aircraft; we have even had some wartime propaganda posters! It is clear that the children have put a lot of effort into this project. Well done! Take a look in the photo album to see a selection.
We have also been celebrating some amazing creative homework from our recent World War two topic in 6E.
The children were challenged to make a wartime garden or Anderson shelter using their gained knowledge from our learning.
It was delightful to see the effort and creativity that was used. Well done 6E!
In English, we used a conscience alley to explore the feelings of a character. This drama technique gets the children to consider the character’s inner voice, considering what was going through the character’s head at a given point in time. We will then use this experience in our written work over the next week.

6E have really enjoyed investigating big questions relating to their spirituality. We investigated three big questions:
Who am I?
Where do I belong?
How can I be the best I can be?
We created spider diagrams that were colour coded to each of the three questions about ourselves, before discussing our suggestions.
We realised that kindness was an important link to all three and created kindness bookmarks (displaying kind messages), that we will hide in books around school for other pupils to find. We also discussed how nature affects our spirituality, and why it makes us appreciate the smaller details of the world around us. Take a look at our fabulous work - There are more examples in our photo album. Well done 6E!

6K enjoyed a World War 2 workshop linked to their history topic. Throughout the day the children took part in a range of activities, including sending morse code messages, planning the perfect mission and a fitness circuit to see if they have what it takes to be a WW2 soldier. There are more photos in our photo album.

6K have been looking at the reasons why Hitler came to power. We looked at a variety of events during the 1920s and 1930s that all played a part in Hitler eventually taking control. The children then looked for links between the different events, making cause and consequence chains. There are more photos in our album for you to look at.

6K have been looking at the human circulatory system in Science, focusing on the blood and the role it plays in keeping us healthy. We made a model of the blood to illustrate how the blood is made up of both solid and liquid parts before describing what each part does. Messy but fun! There are more photos in our photo album.

As part of our after SATs party we had a visit from an ice cream van. Each child enjoyed an ice cream which were delicious and a well deserved treat!
As part of our work on Electricity, Year 6 have been investigating what they can change in a circuit in order for a bulb to shine brighter. Working in groups, the children decided which variable they would like to change and found interesting ways to measure and compare their results.

In order to develop the children's understanding of sustainability, we had a visit from Severn Trent Water who worked with us to look at how we can save water. The children were shocked to find out that we only have access to 1% of the water on Earth and even more shocked to realise that the water they drink today is the same water that was on the planet at the time of the dinosaurs! Each group followed some scenario cards, measuring out water to find out if their 'family' were water savers or water wasters. We then looked at how we could save water in our everyday lives and why it is vital that water is conserved wherever possible. The session ended with the children making a pledge to do what they could to save water. See Photos in the photo album.

On 4th October, Year 6 visited the Potteries Museum to find out more about Reginald Mitchell and his contribution to World War 2. We took part in a scavenger hunt, finding out key facts about Mitchell's life, and spent some time sketching the Spitfire in the Spitfire Gallery. See our photo album for more photos.
